My name is Becky Reickel, formerly Becky Schroth, and I am currently an English teacher at Walkersville High School in Frederick County, Maryland. I created this site to provide helpful information to students, parents, and teachers.
I began teaching in 1984 at Catoctin High School, in Frederick County, Maryland. I have taught high school English classes ranging from low-level ninth graders to Advanced Placement Language and Composition, and most of the others in between. I have earned a Master's of Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins as well as a Master's of Education with Specialization in School Library Media from McDaniel College, and I was the School Library Media Specialist for Brunswick Middle School for three years. In 2006 I earned National Board Certification in Young Adult English Language Arts, in 2007 I was runner-up for Frederick County Teacher of the Year, and in 2008, I became the Teacher Consusltant for Professional Development for Walkersville High School.
My husband, Eric Reickel, is also an English teacher at Walkersville High School, and has earned numerous prestigious awards for the quality of his teaching. He is the WHS Academic Team advisor and an avid disc golf enthusiast. My two sons, Jamie and Jack, attend college at University of Maryland and Rochester Institute of Technology respectively.
